Lime Kiln

Met up with old friends on Sunday, who have now relocated to the Cayman Islands. When they lived at Lime Kiln it was always a date in the diary to visit in Late Spring or Early Summer as the grounds were famous as a rose garden dating to the early 20th Century although the house itself was medieval. Here are a few of the millions of photographs I took over the years.

Late Spring in the Walled Garden.
Kids chillin' on the lawn.
Nick practicing under the thatched folly.

I will look out some of the June pictures for all you rose lovers!

It's beautiful!! Are you still allowed to visit after your friends have moved? I am a bit jealous of these types of properties, beautiful stone buildings and gardens with archways. Where I am in Vermont when we say 'old building' at most we mean the 1600s.... How wonderful to be living in such an historic place.

Hi Fay,

When I see photos such as these pictures of old rambling, sometimes self-seeeding gardens, there is no other country where I would rather be than there!

What gorgeous gardens! I love the feeling of things growing wild all over themselves! Beautiful.

Having the joy of working in hundreds of gardens in the course of my work I miss the forget-me-nots underplanted rose borders and wild county gardens.

There is not a great deal that makes me want to be in England...but:-0))

All the best

With Phil's comment I just realised I never got around to thanking you all for your kind comments.

Phil, yes, "Oh, to be in England
Now that April's there"
but my favorite lines are:
"That's the wise thrush; he sings each song twice over,
Lest you should think he never could recapture
The first fine careless rapture!
Robert Browning
It's just got dark, there, but an hour ago, he was indeed in rapture on top of one of my apple trees!

Becky, no, sadly, never been back, but the memories are mine to keep!
However, I'm meeting up with Cayman friends to visit Chelsea Flower Show next month. Will blog it, of course!

All others, love your comments, you lot keep my going!
Soon Fay
